ANGEL FIRE— A $1.4 million contract from the New Mexico Department of Human Services will enable the National Veterans Wellness and Healing Center plans to bring 90 New Mexico veteran couples a year to Angel Fire for PTSD recovery programs the next four years. The department is providing the center $350,000-a-year to carry out the program.
“It feels great for our veterans,” said Chuck Howe, the center’s president, said Wednesday (Oct. 16).
“We are so pleased,” said State Rep. Bob Wooley, District 66, who helped the center procure $350,000 in funding during this year’s legislative session. The $350,000 the center received for the contract this year must be spent by June 30,2015.
