Military Winterfest Seeks Volunteers Feb. 17-22

As Little as 1-Hour or More Can Make a Difference

ANGEL FIRE, N.M. (Jan. 22, 2016) – Organizers at the 2nd Annual Military Winterfest are seeking volunteers to show off some Angel Fire hospitality. “Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for our veteran, active duty guests and their families,” said Lysa Hopson, Military Winterfest volunteer coordinator. “Our vets and their families have given much to our country, and this festival for them is just one way Angel Fire can say ‘thanks’ for their service.”

Hopson is building a cadre of enthusiastic volunteers who share an interest to giving back to our service members, our veterans and their families. “Whether it’s laying the groundwork for their visit to Angel Fire or assisting during the festival, any help is appreciated,” said Hopson. Volunteers are needed for the following starting February 17 through 22:

  • Booth setup and teardown
  • Registration
  • Greeter
  • Rental Shop Ambassador
  • Ski Guide
  • Snowboard Guide
  • Shoeshoe Guide
  • Ski/Snowboard Race Helper
  • Dog Handler/Helper
  • Cocoa/s’mores Host
  • Children’s Activities
  • Dinner Host

Though Hopson has 4-hour blocks of time scheduled for each task, she said “I’d be pleased with as little as an hour of time to as much time as people want to give.” She has created a survey to help match volunteers with the right opportunity for the event.
