ANGEL FIRE, N.M. (Feb. 3, 2016) – Angel Fire’s 2nd Annual Military Winterfest is a Rocky Mountain celebration in the snow for veterans, working military and their families. A five-day schedule features skiing, snowboarding, sleigh rides, tubing, snowshoeing and a KidFest. But the highlight of the festival is when Dana Bowman, a retired U.S. Army Golden Knight and double amputee, dazzles audiences with his signature American Flag Jump In Saturday morning, Feb. 20. Skydiving from an airplane, he’ll make a precision landing onto the base of Angel Fire Resort’s ski mountain. Bowman, who has two special prosthetic limbs when he lost both legs in a parachuting accident, is determined to prove his long-held motto – “It’s not the disability; it’s the ability™.”

(Jan. 22, 2016) – Organizers at the 2nd Annual Military Winterfest are seeking volunteers to show off some Angel Fire hospitality. “Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for our veteran, active duty guests and their families,” said Lysa Hopson, Military Winterfest volunteer coordinator. “Our vets and their families have given much to our country, and this festival for them is just one way Angel Fire can say ‘thanks’ for their service.”

Ski, Snowboard Lessons for Vets, by Vets at Military Winterfest

ANGEL FIRE, N.M. (Jan. 19, 2016) – This year organizers at the 2nd Annual Military Winterfest have expanded its unique Vet2Vet program that offers ski and snowboard lessons for vets, by vets. “We have several highly skilled ski and snowboard instructors who also have served in the Army, Air Force and Marines,” said Robin May, director of the Angel Fire Ski and Snowboard School. “Our veteran instructor team is ready to teach their fellow vets on a peer-to-peer basis. They have a unique perspective having served our country and teaching a sport that they love.”
